Belfort's rival, Holyfield 'forgets' the Brazilian and guarantees that Tyson is his biggest target upon his return to boxing

Boxing legend, former world champion reaffirms interest in reviving 1997 rivalry almost 25 years later

Opponent of Vitor belfort In this Saturday's super boxing challenge (11), in Florida (USA), Evander Holyfield does not see the Brazilian as the biggest motivation for his return to the ring. Back after more than 10 years of inactivity, the almost sixty-year-old once again stated that his biggest target is his great rival, Mike Tyson, which also returned to activities in 2020.

"(Mike Tyson) is the only reason I got to the point where I asked myself: 'do you want to do this?'. It's the only reason. I know that they would be offering something that, if I had fought my entire career and made even more money in return, (more) than I made my entire life, who wouldn't take the risk?”, stated the veteran, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Considered one of the best boxers of all time, Tyson created a stir when he announced his return to boxing last season. On that occasion, the 'Man of Steel' held an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., and surprised with his stance after more than 15 years of inactivity.

After seeing his biggest rival performing, Holyfield returned to the gym and started to challenge his old opponent. The clash was negotiated, but the agreement was not made official.

A last-minute replacement for Oscar De La Hoya, who would initially face Belfort, Evander will need to prove himself once again as a boxer. 14 years older than the Brazilian, the multiple world champion puts on the gloves 10 seasons after his last commitment.
