UFC Combate 2: Vitor Belfort faces Luke Rockhold in rematch against Anderson Silva

The city of Jaraguá do Sul, in Santa Catarina, hosts the return of Ultimate to the country this Saturday (18). UFC Combate 2 will be the seventh event of the largest MMA organization in the world in Brazil and marks the promotion's debut in the South region. There will be 13 fights on the fight program with Brazilians in all duels.

In the main attraction of the night, Vitor belfort faces the North American Luke Rockhold, where the winner should be close to a chance to compete for the middleweight belt, currently held by Anderson Silva.

Throughout the promotion of the event, Belfort and Rockhold remained respectful in their statements and avoided talking about a possible title fight. But at the time of the weigh-in, this Friday (17), the atmosphere heated up between the main protagonists of the show. During the traditional face-off, the Brazilian placed his arm close to the North American's face. In turn, Rockhold went up to Vitor and placed his forehead against his rival's. At this moment, Belfort pushed Luke and the fighters had to be restrained so that the fight did not start a day in advance.

“I think people have a mouth and say what they want, I don't care who provokes them before the fight,” said Belfort, who doesn't hide his confidence in leaving the Octagon with yet another triumph. “I trained for this (victory). I hired fighters with great stature, the best in K-1, like Glaube Feitosa, who made history there. And I also had help from my entire team at Blackzilians. We are very confident”, he added.

Although it is not yet official, it seems that the fight between Vitor belfort e Luke Rockhold must give the winner the right to compete for the middleweight belt against the winner of Anderson Silva, current champion, and Chris Weidman, who will face each other at UFC 162 in July.

Jacaré debuts in the UFC

In the second most important fight of the night, the jiu-jitsu beast, Ronaldo Jacare will make his long-awaited UFC debut against Chris Camozzi. Despite his successful career in the “gentle art”, Jaca guarantees that he can surprise the North American in other areas of fighting.

“I, as an athlete who came from jiu-jitsu, will try to take the fight to the ground, but I am always looking for my evolution. This is MMA and I have to be ready for anything. I trained with great boxers, with professor Josué Distak, I trained in wrestling, so I'm ready for anything. Obviously the fight starts standing up, but you better watch out for me”, said the former Strkeforce champion.
