Former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic says he will meet with the UFC in September to decide his future

With the desire to quickly return to the octagon, the former category leader revealed the date on which he will meet with Dana White and says he is open to facing Jon Jones

With his future undefined and with the heavyweight category (up to 120,2kg) in question, the former champion Stipe Miocic wants to get back to the octagon quickly. The number two in the heavyweight ranking stated that he will meet with Dana White in September and was open to welcoming Jon Jones in the new division. The statement was given in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“We’re going to sit down in September with Dana. Let's discover our future from there. We hope to resolve this within the next month. We'll get there. Dana has been messaging me and we are in negotiations,” said Miocic.

Asked about the interim belt dispute between Cyryl Gane e Derrick Lewis, the former heavyweight leader stated that he would have liked to have been called up for this fight and that he wants another opportunity to resume his reign.

“I might not have accepted it, but I would have loved to do it. I wanted this opportunity. I definitely want a chance to get my belt back,” added Stipe.

Speculated as one of the possible opponents of the debut of Jon Jones in the category, the heavyweight was open to facing the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg).

“I’ll fight anyone. I've said this since day one. I'll fight anyone they put in front of me, but that's what you want, to face one of the greatest fighters of all time. He would be a great athlete to have on my resume”, concluded Miocic.

With two reigns in the heavyweight division, Miocic was dethroned in March of this year when he was knocked out by Francis Ngannou No. UFC 260. The firefighter from Cleveland (USA) is considered one of the greatest athletes in the history of the division and holds the record for most belt defenses (four). The fighter has an MMA record of 20 triumphs and four setbacks.
