Kayla Harrison says she is flattered by Cyborg's challenge, but guarantees: 'I can beat her'

PFL phenomenon, two-time Olympic champion reinforces interest in testing herself against Brazilian legend

The success of Kayla harrison in MMA has caught the attention of some fans of the sport. After putting on a show and advancing to the final of the lightweight (up to 70,3kg) tournament at the PFL, the North American entered the radar of the legendary Chris Cyborg, and was not intimidated. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the fighter said she was flattered by the challenge, but assured that she could surprise the Bellator champion in a possible confrontation.

"It's a compliment. I don't care if people think, 'how can she think she can beat (Cyborg)?'. Do you really think I'm just passing by? Do you think I want to be second best? Of course I believe I can beat her, and I want to beat her. That’s what I’m looking for”, guaranteed the athlete.

In his last commitment, Harrison put on a show in a duel valid for the semifinals of the PFL lightweight tournament. Facing Genah Fabian, the two-time Olympic champion made an important clash for the organization look easy. To win, the combatant needed less than one round, reaching victory with a knockout.

While Kayla reigns supreme in the PFL, Chris Cyborg continues to shine with Bellator gloves. The athlete won the featherweight title (up to 65,7kg.) Right on her debut, when she beat julia budd. Afterwards, the Curitiba native defended her belt on two occasions, passing her rivals without any major problems.

Today, Harrison holds a record of 11 wins and no losses in his MMA career, in addition to the PFL title. Considered one of the best fighters of all time, Cris has 27 appearances, with 24 triumphs, two setbacks and one 'I didn't answer'. The Brazilian also has UFC, Strikeforce, Invicta FC and Bellator belts on her resume.
