Executioner of Moreno on two occasions, Pantoja sees champion 'scared' of possible rematch

After winning at UFC Las Vegas 34 and challenging Brandon in the Octagon, Brazilian talks about his chance to fight for the title

The convincing victory of Alexandre pantoja about Brandon royval brought the Brazilian closer to a title fight in the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg). After his triumph last weekend, the Tupiniquim challenged the champion, Moreno, to the microphone and recalled having already beaten the Mexican on two occasions. At the press conference after the event, the fighter said he imagined the division leader scared about the possible rematch.

“He knows my game. I defeated him twice. I think he might be a little scared, because he was defeated by submission and, when he had the rematch, I beat him 30-26 (judges' decision). I proved that I’m better,” said Pantoja.

Afterwards, Alexandre 'ignored' Deiveson Figueiredo e Askar askarov, who are also eyeing a title fight. According to the Brazilian, his time has come.

“I'm next and he (Moreno) knows. Maybe he will retire. I don't know what he's thinking. He knows me, he knows the strength in my hands and my grappling. I’m the most dangerous in the division”, he said.

In the octagon, after overcoming the dangerous Royval, Pantoja suggested a duel in December. The athlete then explained the requested date.

“I said December, because I know Brandon wants that time. I'm ready to fight. I don’t know if he wants to fight this year or next year, but he knows I’m coming”, he concluded.

With the victory over Royval, Alexandre confirmed the good phase of his career and defended third place in the group. Today, the Brazilian is behind only Askarov and Deiveson.
