The former defender has already revealed the date he intends to debut in the new sport. According to him, the first MMA fight should take place later this year.

“I believe we are ready to go (for a fight). It depends on what the teacher says, but I believe we are ready. We are perfecting all the martial arts necessary to enter a cage to face an opponent who is a good fighter. I believe that in December I can,” he added.

Last week, interestingly, another athlete did the opposite movement. Former UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov signed contract FC Legion Dynamo Makhachkala, from Dagestan, and could debut on the pitch soon.

Gamarra, who became known for being a defender who didn't commit fouls, – he spent the entire 98 World Cup without even making a single mistake – was present at the Team Force Internacional 4 Cup, on Saturday night, in Asunción. Alongside his former teammate, Chilavert, he revealed that his specialty in MMA is stand-up fighting.

“We are very well prepared at the top. And on the ground, we are ready too, without any problems”, said the fighter.
