Candidate for a welterweight belt fight (up to 77kg.), Leon edwards may have to wait even longer for the chance to face the champion. According to Ali Abdelaziz, businessman from Kamaru Usman, English needs a serious challenge to be accredited and the affirmation can favor Vincent Luque, who has been shining in the division.

“Kamaru is fed up with facing people for free. We are not interested in Leon unless he faces someone like (Jorge) Masvidal,” said Abdelaziz, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

By dealing with the condition so that Edwards can fight for the belt, Vicente can 'skip the line' and get to the Nigerian before the Englishman. For Ali, the Brazilian has shown progress and could become the challenger in the near future.

“If not (Leon rejects the proposal), guys like Luque, who faces the best, will go ahead”, concluded the agent.
