Candidate for a welterweight belt fight (up to 77kg.), Leon edwards may have to wait even longer for the chance to face the champion. “Kamaru is fed up with facing people for free. We are not interested in Leon unless he faces someone like (Jorge) Masvidal,” said Abdelaziz, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.
By dealing with the condition so that Edwards can fight for the belt, Vicente can 'skip the line' and get to the Nigerian before the Englishman. For Ali, the Brazilian has shown progress and could become the challenger in the near future.
“If not (Leon rejects the proposal), guys like Luque, who faces the best, will go ahead”, concluded the agent.
A Tupiniquim promise in the welterweight division, Vicente is having a great time in the organization. In his last fight, in UFC 265, the athlete defeated the dangerous Michael chiesa and took fourth position in the category. Today, the fighter is second only to Edwards, Gilbert Durinho, Colby covington and, of course, the champion, Usman.
