In an interview with the MMAJunkie website, BKFC president David Feldman confirmed that he has been talking to Diego Sanchez and that an agreement is close to being finalized. The biggest concern regarding the fighter is his medical and neurological condition. These issues resulted in Diego's departure from the UFC, after his lawyer was unable to confirm that the athlete's health was not compromised.
Feldman, however, assured that Diego Sanchez will undergo medical examinations before being cleared to compete.
“Yes, we had great conversations. I think we are close to closing something soon. He's a good guy, I think he has a lot to offer us. I don't think he's finished. We will definitely go through all types of medical protocols that exist because of his history. I want to make sure he's okay, but I have a good feeling he is. Once we get through this, I think we can go to the contract and get everything straightened out. It will be great to have a legend like Diego Sanchez facing another legend at our event”, stated the president.
About possible opponents for the debut of Diego Sanchez in the organization, Feldman said he has two surprising names in mind.
“I have one that’s not in the cast that people are going to go crazy about. And I have another one in the cast that 100% of people won't believe and will think doesn't make sense, but he asked for it. As soon as I close the contract, I don't want to just stir, stir, stir. I hate to do this to you guys, but you know,” he finished.
