The UFC bantamweight belt holder, Dominick Cruz, finds himself in a situation of strong distrust, as he hasn't fought since October 2011 and there is strong pressure for his title to be passed on to the interim champion Renan Barao. Despite this, the president of Ultimate, Dana White, assured, in an interview with the website MMA Junkie, that Cruz remains with the belt.

“We had a great talk with Dominick. He is well, feeling healthy and is training again.”, said the manager. “He will continue with the title. And when he comes back, he will defend him”, added White.

Despite the optimistic statements and support for Cruz, the president was emphatic when commenting on what would happen if the champion were injured again. “If he gets hurt again, then we would have to say (we are taking the belt from you),” he said.

The last time that Dominick Cruz entered the octagon at UFC Live 6, on October 1, 2011. On that occasion, the Ultimate bantamweight champion won Demetrious Johnson – today holder of the organization’s flyweight belt – by unanimous decision of the judges.
