After being cited by Brandon Moreno as an ideal challenger for the first defense of the flyweight belt (up to 56,7 kg), cody garbrandt showed himself ready for the challenge.

In an interview with the North American website “TMZ Sports”, the former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) praised the Mexican and stated that the fight between the two would make sense.

"It makes sense. If Brandon wants to fight, I think he's a great champion, a great human being. He has evolved a lot in the last few fights. I like him as a person and I'm super happy for the boy. His trajectory and career, being fired by the UFC, being the last choice on The Ultimate Fighter and then becoming a world champion. He's a great fighter. It would be a great duel of styles for me and I could finally fight at my natural weight, where I think I will perform better”, said Garbrandt.

cody garbrandt He reached the Ultimate title fighting in the bantamweight division, but the desire to change categories is nothing new. The North American was scheduled to face the then champion Deiveson Figueiredo in November last year, but he contracted Covid-19 and the fight ended up cancelled.

Despite coming on a bad streak in the organization, with four defeats in the last five fights, Garbrandt believes he has what it takes to defeat Brandon Moreno in the new category.

“I feel like I’m a much better fighter than him. I'll finish him off for sure. Knockout, submission, whatever”, analyzed the former champion.
