Matt Mitrione participated in the co-main fight of Bellator 262. The former UFC fighter faced Tyrell Fortune and ended up submitting with punches less than two minutes into the first round.
After an encouraging start in the organization, with four straight victories, including a knockout over the legend Fedor Emelianenko, Mitrione went on a run of poor results. The meeting with Tyrell Fortune marked the fifth consecutive fight without a win for the former UFC fighter, who in his four previous appearances had lost three and finished one without a result.
Ronny Markes, in turn, has less history to tell in the organization. The Brazilian took action only twice and ended up being knocked out on both occasions, the last time by Said Sowma in the first round. The native of Rio Grande do Norte won just one of the last five fights he had.
The third released by Bellator was Adil Benjilany. The Moroccan even beat Johnny Soto by unanimous decision from the judges on the preliminary card of Bellator 262, but he did not convince the organization that he deserved to have his contract renewed.
