Bellator flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg), Juliana Velasquez does not think that Denise Kielholtz deserves a rematch from the title fight that took place last Friday (16). The Brazilian fighter stated that she does not intend to give the Dutch woman another fight and mentioned the names of possible opponents for her next belt defense.

“If I were to give someone a rematch, the one who deserved it was Ilima-Lei (Macfarlane). She had many title defenses. After this fight (against Kielholtz), I'm just going to move on. I think the fight that would make the most sense now would be against Ilima-Lei or Liz Carmouche. These are the fights I would like to do”, said the Brazilian fighter in an interview after the show.

Even recognizing the great balance of the duel against Kielholtz, the leader of the flies declared that, in her opinion, she won the fight convincingly.

“In the first round, she was coming strong. She managed to get close and hit me but I was circling away from her. I think I was much more effective from the third round onwards. I was very confident when they were going to announce the decision (of the fight). I think I won the final three rounds”, concluded the champion.

With the victory over Denise, Juliana defended her category belt for the first time. The Brazilian fighter became champion in December 2020, after beating Ilima-Lei MacFarlane. Undefeated in professional MMA, Velasquez now has 12 consecutive victories on her record.

Fatal change? Makhachev ignores warning and could end tragically at welterweight!
