Former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) of the organization, Tate guarantees that she did not return to Ultimate just to meet the schedule. The American announced her retirement in 2016, after consecutive defeats to Amanda nunes e Rachel Pennington. Five years later, the fighter analyzed the current panorama of the bantamweight division.

PUBLICITY:

“What I've noticed has changed over the last four years is that there is a certain calm in the division due to Amanda being such a dominant champion. All women have been working hard and doing their part, but that's not the problem. Every time there is a champion who is so dominant that he clears out the majority of challengers, people start to think 'what now? what to do? who's next?'. Good, Julianna Pena is next and I think it represents a big style challenge for Amanda. I’m excited to get back there and get into that fight,” she analyzed Miesha Tate in an interview with the website MMAFighting.com.

The Brazilian Amanda nunes became UFC bantamweight champion with a victory over Miesha Tate, at UFC 200, in 2016. The North American stated that she would really like to take revenge for the defeat against the “Lione” with her own hands, but that she is rooting for her friend Julianna Pena in the duel on August 7th.

PUBLICITY:

“What I want for myself is a revenge against Amanda nunes, but I genuinely want Julianna to win this fight. It would make me very happy if she could. There is no part of me rooting against her so I can get my happy ending. Whatever has to happen, will happen. Eventually I'll get to the belt. I’m excited for Julianna and I want her to win, but if she doesn’t, I will,” concluded Tate.

Fatal change? Makhachev ignores warning and could end tragically at welterweight!
