With 1,8 million packages sold, the show held last Saturday is second only to UFC 229 in terms of sales. The show, which took place on October 6, 2018, marked the also highly anticipated duel between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Conor McGregor, valid for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg). At the time, the Irishman returned to the octagon after two years away.
The success of the trilogy against Dustin poirier reinforces McGregor's 'power' in attracting the public to watch his fights. The list of the three best-selling events in Ultimate history had the Irishman as the protagonist. In addition to events numbered 229 and 264, the top-3 of the company's 'pay-per-view' is closed by UFC 202, which featured the second duel between 'Notório' and Nate diaz. The show sold about 1,6 million packages.
UFC ratings notes:
PPV buys came over just under 1.8 million globally. Dana White said as much at the post event press conference.
I'm told that 500,000 of those buys came from international, which means ESPN+ logged around 1.3 million buys.- John Ourand (@Ourand_SBJ) July 13, 2021
