Called up to face Sean O'Malley with less than 10 days to go before the UFC 264, Kris moutinho admitted to being surprised. The bantamweight fighter (up to 61,2kg) made no secret of the fact that he was surprised by the call for next Saturday's event (10) but believes he can emerge victorious from the confrontation. The statement was given in the 'half day' of the show.

“When they suggested my name to face him (O'Malley) in 15 minutes I was receiving messages from random people telling me that I was going to be knocked out and beaten and I didn't understand what I was talking about. Five minutes later, my manager called me and said, 'Yeah, man we did it. Get ready. Cut the weight and let's show the world who you are'”, said Moutinho.

Even recognizing the great challenge that lies ahead, Kris demonstrated knowledge of his opponent's game and showed confidence in achieving a victory.

“O'Malley is a very talented and explosive kid but I don't think anyone was there to really test him. His most complicated fight was against Marlon Vera and he got hurt. I think I'm going to stay on top of him, put pressure on him and I think that's something he's not comfortable with”, concluded the rookie.

With a record of nine wins and four losses, Kris will make his Ultimate debut. The North American is coming off two consecutive victories on the fast track. In October 2020, he knocked out Ashiek Ajim in the second round at the CES MMA event. Last May, Moutinho submitted Andrew Salas in the third round in the 96th edition of Cage Fury FC.
