“Money is more important, I have mouths to feed. The good thing is that completing this trilogy makes sense sportingly and financially. I owe this to my family. I made this decision quite easily. If I'm the best in the world, then I'm going to beat Conor and fight for the belt. It's like doubling down. I'm a gambler and I believe in my abilities, so I doubled the bet”, explained the American.

Poirier revealed the financial difference between facing Conor McGregor and compete for the category belt.

“I don't know how much you want to enter into contractual terms, but if I fought for the belt, I wouldn't have the pay-per-view profit. I would have a base salary that probably wouldn't reach a third of what I'm going to earn in this fight. Does not make sense. My goal is not to expose the UFC or the numbers themselves. But if I'm going to make six, seven, ten times that amount to face Conor again, like I said, I'm a father and a husband and I have my priorities,” concluded Poirier.

Dustin poirier e Conor McGregor face each other in the main fight of the UFC 264, this Saturday (10), in Las Vegas (USA).
