The Kyrgyz Valentina Shevchenko was the only fighter who came close to dethroning the Brazilian Amanda nunes from the throne of UFC bantamweight champion (up to 62.1 kg.). However, the current flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg.) believes that the Julianna Pena could complicate the Brazilian's life in her next title defense.

According to Valentina, Julianna brings a physical challenge and, mainly, in the ground game to make it difficult for the Brazilian. The Kyrgyzstani also said that Peña has 'many ways to beat' the Bahian fighter.

“I think it will be a good fight, very interesting to watch. It all depends on the mental and physical conditions of both women on the day of the event. I think Julianna has a lot of chances, because she represents a big physical challenge for Amanda, perhaps on the ground. Because that's what she'll do, right? Julianna will not try to exchange blows standing up with the champion to see who can hit harder. I don't think that's the idea of the fight for her. I believe she will have many opportunities to find a way to win. But it’s MMA, you never know what to expect in the next second”, said the fighter to the website Middle Easy.

Valentina Shevchenko already faced Amanda nunes on two occasions and ended up defeated in both matches. At UFC 196, in March 2016, the Brazilian won a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). On that occasion, Nunes started better and Shevchenko ended the duel with an advantage, especially in terms of physicality. In the rematch, at UFC 215, in August 2017, valid for the bantamweight belt, the duel was very balanced for 25 minutes. In the end, Amanda defeated the Kyrgyzstani again, this time in a split decision (48–47, 47–48, 48–47).
