UFC postpones title fight between Glover Teixeira and Jan Blachowicz

The fight for the UFC light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg), between the champion Jan Blachowicz and the Brazilian challenger Glover Teixeira was again postponed by the organization. Originally, the fight would take place in UFC 266, In the beggining of september. It was later postponed to the 26th of the same month. Now, the duel will be the main attraction of the UFC 267, in Abu Dhabi, on October 30th.

The information was initially released by Canal Combate during the broadcast of the UFC Las Vegas 30, last Saturday (26).

Jan Blachowicz is the current UFC light heavyweight champion. The 38-year-old Pole won the belt he gave up Jon Jones by defeating Dominick reyes by technical knockout in UFC 256, in September 2020. In March of this year, the champion defended his title for the first time in a unanimous decision victory against Israel adesanya, holder of the organization's middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg).

Glover Teixeira, in turn, is the number 1 challenger in the UFC light heavyweight rankings. At 41 years old, the Brazilian gained the opportunity to compete again for the category title by recording a sequence of five victories. The last of them was against fellow Brazilian Thiago “Marreta”, in November 2020. It will be Glover's second attempt to become Ultimate champion. In 2014, the miner faced Jon Jones for the belt, but ended up defeated by unanimous decision.
