Opening the main card of UFC Las Vegas 30, held this Saturday (26), Renato Moicano won the first for Brazilians in the event. Before Jai Herbert, the athlete acted safely and bet on his excellent jiu-jitsu to win his second victory in the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg). With a rear naked choke in the second round, the Tupiniquim won the match.

A former featherweight standout (up to 65,7kg), Moicano climbed into the Octagon to recover from the defeat he suffered against Raphael Fiziev, in December 2020, when he lost his first since moving to lightweight. Seeking to reach the elite of the category led by Charles of the Bronx, the Brazilian took an important step towards his continuation in the division.
With the result, Renato now has two wins in three appearances in the division. The triumph over the Englishman also marked the Tupiniquim's eighth submission out of 15 positive results in his MMA career.

The fight
The Englishman took the initiative in the clash by delivering a low kick to Moicano. The Brazilian was unfazed and, soon after, he reached for his legs and took his opponent to the ground. Realizing the moment of disadvantage, Renato took down his opponent again, but there was no more time.
In the second stage, Moicano continued to focus on grappling. In the opening seconds, the Brazilian looked for his legs and took down his rival. Renato gained the mount and attacked, trying to find a submission. Jai tried to free himself, but the Brazilian continued to pressure. Herbert managed to stay on his feet, but Moicano took his rival to the ground again. On top, the Brazilian continued in position and dominance and prevented the Englishman from recovering. Near the final minute, Renato landed a clean elbow on Jai's face, which he felt. The Brazilian felt the good moment, continued striking and found the opening to lock in the rear naked choke. With no chance, Herbert gave up, determining the Brazilian's victory.

In the fight between veterans, Tim means e Nicholas Dalby They had a confrontation marked by technique. In a busy duel, the athletes left everything in the octagon and had one of the busiest clashes on the card. After three rounds, the North American was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges.
Representative of the welterweight division (up to 77kg.), Means, 37, confirmed the good phase of his career. With the triumph, the athlete reached the third positive result in a row.
Defeated, Dalby ended up having an undefeated streak interrupted. The 36-year-old athlete has not lost since April 2018, when he played for Cage Warriors.

The poke in the eye ended up determining the outcome of one of the main fights in the UFC Las Vegas 30. In a match contested at featherweight (up to 65,7kg.), André Fili ended up reaching Daniel Pineda with the illegal blow, which caused the confrontation to be interrupted in the second round. After being evaluated by the UFC doctor, a 'no contest' was declared, a fight without result.
Seeking to recover from the defeat suffered by Bryce mitchell in 2020, Fili had the advantage in the confrontation. After a dominant first round, the fighter lost his chance to win again.
After the incident, Pineda cried profusely in the Octagon. Inconsolable, the athlete continued stating that he was capable of continuing in the confrontation. With the result, Daniel now has a positive result, a negative result and a 'no contest' with UFC gloves.
