Brazil was unsuccessful with its first two representatives in the UFC Las Vegas 30, held this Saturday (26). Veterans in the organization, Michel Trator and Warlley alves didn't stand a chance against Shavkat Rakhmonov e Jeremiah Wells, respectively, and ended up losing in the fast lane. Both defeats came in the second round.

Back in Ultimate after serving a two-year suspension for doping, Trator ended up being selected to face the undefeated 'giant' from Kazakhstan. Against Shavkat, Michel found it difficult to find distance and ended up being easy prey for his opponent's long-range strikes and grappling.

The defeat marked the second negative result in a row for Michel, who had not played since February 2019. The veteran's last victory came in November 2018, when he submitted Bartosz Fabinski.

Considered a promise at welterweight (up to 77kg), Shavkat proved once again that he is a name to be watched closely by fans of the sport. Now, the athlete has 14 consecutive results, without knowing what it's like to lose in sport.

The fight

At the beginning of the fight, Trator took the initiative with two low kicks. With a visible difference in wingspan, the Brazilian tried to shorten it, undermining his opponent's base. Shavkat walked forward and jabbed Michel. After almost two minutes, the man from Pará started grappling and started to press his opponent against the bars. Attentive, Rakhmonov grabbed the Tupiniquim and managed to take Michel to the ground. On top, the Kazakhstan athlete attempted transitions, while the Brazilian protected himself from below. Trator tried to explode, but the opponent didn't give him space. The man from Pará finally managed to get up, but Shavkat remained 'stuck'. In the final seconds, the Tupiniquim moved away, but there was no more time.

The second stage began with Shavkat taking advantage, with a round kick and a sequence of punches. The Brazilian risked a direct shot, which ended up in his rival's guard. Trator looked for the legs, but ended up surprised by a sequence of clean punches to the face delivered from top to bottom. At a disadvantage, Michel protected himself as best he could, but showed no reaction to his opponent. Rakhmonov got to the back, locked in a rear-naked choke and forced the man from Pará to tap out.

Just like Trator, Alves did not have an easy time with his commitment over the weekend. With an opponent selected at the last minute – replacing Ramzan Emeev -, the Minas Gerais native ended up being surprised by the newcomer's precise and powerful attacks. Jeremiah Wells.

With the defeat, Alves was unable to confirm the good phase in the organization. In his last fight, the Brazilian put on a real show when he ran over Mounir Lazzez. Now, the Tupiniquim has three setbacks in his last five fights.

In his first UFC fight, Wells arrives as a candidate for one of the performance bonuses. In his 11th fight as a professional in MMA, the athlete now has nine wins, with four knockouts.

The fight

In the opening seconds, Wells went up and managed to take the Brazilian to the ground. Explosive, the North American continued looking for transitions, but the Minas Gerais native protected himself. Warlley tried to get up, but was stopped by his opponent's momentum. After almost two minutes, Alves managed to stand, but was pressed against the bars by the American. The Brazilian managed to move away, but continued to be the victim of his opponent's incisive attacks. Alves tried to free himself and risked a guillotine after an attack on the legs attempted by his opponent. Wells defended himself, fell under the Tupiniquim, but there was no more time.

The second stage began with the athletes engaging in frank exchanges. The Brazilian struck, but ended up being surprised by a counterattack from his opponent. Light heavyweight athlete (up to 93kg.), Marcin Prachnio proved that MMA is a sport of surprises. After being dominated in the first round against Ike Villanueva, the Pole pulled a 'rabbit out of his hat'. With a singular kick to his opponent's waistline, the athlete achieved a classic knockout. After suffering the attack, the North American immediately felt the action, knelt down and the dispute was interrupted.

With the victory, Prachnio made good on the Pole's reputation for triumphing on the fast track. The positive result marked his 11th knockout victory in 14 attempts in his MMA career. The fighter also achieved his second consecutive victory, moving away from the difficult phase, when he lost three in a row.

Beaten over the weekend, Ike Villanueva continues to fluctuate in the company. Now, there are three defeats in four commitments in the company.

Julia Avila submits and defends position in bantamweight

Bantamweight representative (up to 61,2kg.), Julia Avila he did not have a calm fight, but he overcame the difficulties faced by Julija Stoliarenko. In a truncated confrontation, the North American almost had the result left in the hands of the judges, however, in the final seconds of the third round, she managed a submission against her rival. With a rear naked choke, the fighter forced the Lithuanian athlete to 'give up'.

The victory made Avila defend the 15th position in the ranking led by Amanda nunes. Now, the American has three wins in four fights in the company.

The setback for Julia raised the alarm bells for Stoliarenko. The fighter was beaten in her debut by It's Kunitskaya and continues without winning in Ultimate.

Jaynes bets on himself, loses and suffers a loss of R$123 thousand

A curious fact marked the second fight of the UFC Las Vegas 30. Needing to win to avoid the risk of dismissal, Justin jaynes was so confident that he ended up betting his entire purse on a positive result in the clash against Charles Rosa. In the confrontation, however, the athlete ended up not delivering a dominant performance and, after three rounds, he ended up defeated by the judges' split decision.

As a result, Jaynes, who, at times, imposed difficulties on his rival, ended up suffering a loss of more than R$100. In addition to the financial 'break', the fighter may have made his last appearance with the Ultimate gloves. The defeat marked the fourth consecutive defeat for the North American. If the athlete is, in fact, fired, he will leave the company without any triumph.

Just like Justin, Charles also needed the victory. Seeking stability in the organization, the athlete recovered from a defeat in his last appearance and now has five victories and five setbacks in the company.

Medeiros loses fourth in a row and gets complicated once and for all

In the fight that opened the event, Yancy Medeiros needed a victory to breathe life into the organization. Opponent of Damir Hadzović, presented difficulties for his opponent in the first and end of the last round, but was unable to prevent the defeat in the unanimous decision of the judges. The setback confirms the North American's fourth negative result in a row in the UFC.

In the first round, Medeiros started well and balanced the dispute against his opponent from Bosnia. In the second, Yancy's pace dropped and the athlete came close to suffering a knockout, pressed against the bars and victim of a sequence of punches from his rival. The last stage started with an advantage for Hadzovic, who dominated the first minutes. Medeiros, however, grew in the final minute and managed to land a rear naked choke on Damir, who ended up saved by the bell.

Hadzovic's triumph ended a sequence of two defeats for the athlete. Now, the fighter breathes in the company.
