Anderson Silva talks about his boxing adventure after leaving the UFC: 'I'm a free man'

On the eve of making his return to the noble art, the Brazilian fighter cited his love for martial arts as motivation for his new challenge

On the eve of making his boxing debut against Julio Cezar Chaves JR, Anderson Silva showed excitement for his return to 'noble art'. The veteran stated that he decided to follow a new path because he was a 'free man' and spoke about his love for martial arts. The statement was given in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“I put my heart into it and helped take the UFC to a different level. Of course my era ended in Ultimate. When I got there, I was a free man. Now that I’m out, I’m still a free man,” Anderson declared.

Asked about the reasons for deciding to venture into the noble art, the Brazilian fighter spoke about his love for martial arts.

“I just want to do something that I love to do. Let me tell you something important, no one can tell you that: 'You can't do this, you can't do that'. You can do anything in your life when you have passion and love”, concluded the Brazilian.

MMA professional since 2000, Anderson Silva retired in October 2020 in defeat to Uriah Hall in the unanimous decision of the judges. Former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg), the Brazilian fighter will face the dangerous former WBC (World Boxing Confederation) champion next Saturday (17). The show will be held in Guadalajara (MEX).
