Brandon Moreno puts on a show, submits Deiveson Figueiredo and wins the flyweight belt at UFC 263

The Mexican takes no notice and the Brazilian dominates the match and becomes the new Ultimate champion in the co-main fight

A real show. In the co-main event of UFC 263, held this Saturday (12), in Glendale (USA), Brandon Moreno took no notice of Deiveson Figueiredo and ended the Brazilian's reign in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg) this weekend. After dominating the man from Pará for two rounds, the Mexican took advantage of the advantage and beat the Tupiniquim with a submission in the third round, winning the division belt.

The rematch between Deiveson and Moreno was expected by MMA fans due to a true spectacle carried out by the athletes in December of last season. After 25 minutes of action, the first confrontation ended in a draw.

Six months later, the flies were brought face to face again. Famous for his aggressiveness, Deiveson was far from repeating great performances in the organization and ended up being easy prey for his opponent's well-aimed strikes.

With the setback, Figueiredo ends up suffering his second negative result in his career – the first via submission. The defeat also ends a six-fight unbeaten streak.

The fight

The confrontation began with Moreno taking the initiative with a jab to the Brazilian's waistline. The Mexican attacked the Brazilian again with a low kick. Deiveson saved his strikes and tried to get into his opponent's range of action. Brandon continued to be more aggressive with a series of punches. The Brazilian walked backwards, but did not accuse his opponent of his attacks. Moreno continued to dictate the pace of the confrontation, while the man from Pará tried to find the best moment to attack. Figueredo remained more restrained and was unable to release his game. Deiveson risked a punch, but ended up surprised by a left jab from his opponent. The champion fell, but pulled his opponent into guard. The advantage belonged to the Mexican, who dominated the confrontation. From below, Figueiredo managed to sweep and stayed on his feet. In the final seconds, Moreno called Deiveson to fight, but there was no more time.

On the way back, Deiveson needed to recover from the injury from the first stage and accepted the open exchange. After a combination of punches, the Brazilian managed to take down his rival and started looking for his opponent's neck. From above, Figueiredo threw elbows at his opponent's ribs. Moreno stuck to the man from Pará and tried to stop the champion's advances. Brandon managed to explode, got up and got to the Brazilian's back. Pressing the man from Pará against the bars, the Mexican kneed him in the legs. The challenger managed to get to the back, but Figueiredo managed to get out of position. With his opponent in a dominant position, Deiveson tried to protect himself. The confrontation remained tense for the champion and Moreno struck from top to bottom. From below, Figueiredo connected elbows from below and caused swelling in his rival's left eye. In the final seconds, Moreno continued on top without the champion being able to stay on his feet.

The third stage began with Deiveson taking the initiative with a high kick, which stopped in his opponent's guard. The champion connected with a round kick that landed cleanly on the challenger's waistline. Figueiredo tried a cross, but the blow grazed his opponent's face. After an overhand, Brandon managed a takedown and fell to the back of the man from Pará. The Mexican secured the rear naked choke, but the champion managed to free himself. The situation was complicated for the people from Pará, who found it difficult to protect themselves. After striking the Brazilian, Moreno managed to secure a new choke. Without a chance, the Brazilian gave up.
