Despite not showing in the octagon that he was shaken by the countless criticisms and accusations made by the welterweight belt challenger, Nick Diaz, the champion Georges St Pierre was quick to present his defense to the attacks made by his rival before the fight, won by GSP, at UFC 158, held this Saturday (16). The Canadian denied the use of anabolic steroids and asked for a more rigorous inspection by the athletic commissions.
“I have never taken steroids in my life and I am in favor of Olympic trials in my sport. I'm not a thief, I've never cheated in my life. I'm against TRT (hormone replacement treatment) and against all of that. You can test me all the time, I’m in favor of testing and I want that regularly”, he said at the press conference that followed his victory over Diaz.
Unlike St. Pierre, who was never caught in drug tests, Nick Diaz has already tested positive for marijuana twice – including being suspended after fighting against Carlos Condit, valid for the interim welterweight belt. The substance, although it does not have anabolic effects, is prohibited by the athletic commissions that regulate MMA and by Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency).
