The former title challenger said he plans to show his 'value' within the category and stated that he will seek a knockout against his compatriot. “I will show on September 25th that I deserve to be a UFC fighter, that I deserve to be number 4 in the light heavyweight rankings. I need to show everyone who I am. In this fight I want to show everyone that I am better than before my surgery and that I can have another chance to fight for the title”, said Marreta.
Even showing respect for Walker, Marreta stated that he is in better shape than in his last fight and declared that he will look for the knockout.
“I respect him as a fighter and as a person but on the day of the fight there will be no respect or mercy. I'll do my job. I'll try to knock him out. I feel much better than my last fight. I feel more confident, more comfortable and I will use my experience to show everyone my value”, concluded the Brazilian.
With three consecutive defeats in their last fights, Thiago Marreta They need to win again to avoid distancing themselves from the top of the division. His last victory was a knockout over Jan Blachowicz in February 2019. The fighter has a record of 21 triumphs and nine setbacks.
