After months of provocations, insults and much confusion, the Canadian Georges St Pierre and the North American Nick Diaz settle differences, this Saturday (16), in the main fight of UFC 158, an event to be held in Montreal, Canada. The duel, valid for the welterweight title, marks GSP's eighth title defense.
The tense atmosphere between St. Pierre and Diaz can be seen at the show's official weigh-in. During the traditional face-off, Nick placed his elbow on GSP's arm. At this point, Dana White, president of the franchise, had to separate the athletes so that the fight did not start a day in advance.
“In the articles I read, I am the villain and Georges is the good guy. This upsets me. They try to paint me as the villain, but how many times have your friends been shot in the street? I hate when they put me as the provocateur, but no one knows what I went through in my life,” said Diaz.
In turn, St. Pierre, who several times went on the attack against his rival, preferred not to argue. “I don’t want to say too much, I prefer to leave it for the fight,” said St. Pierre.
