Lack of rhythm

In 2019, he made public his dissatisfaction with the lack of fights within Ultimate. The following season, the Brazilian returned to the octagon after almost two years without a commitment. The Amazonian then spoke about how the lack of rhythm could influence the outcome of the match.

“To keep the pace, you have to fight. There is no way to. It's like waking up every day and running. For a month to see, if you do the same circuit. Time will not be the same, nor will breathing. Everything influences. Whoever says no, feels it. The guy who is fighting straight has more confidence,” she said.

Ready for victory

Entering action around nine months after his last performance, Alan spoke about preparing for the confrontation with Jones. Confident that he will do a good job, the Brazilian did not hide his confidence.

“We are prepared, wanting to win, 'knife in the skull'. We want to go to the champions column. We change the entire training cycle and go for victory. We want to end the fight and emerge champion that night,” he said.

Message to Mason Jones

If, on the one hand, Nuguette will have a great challenge at UFC Vegas, on the other, Jones has to take care of himself. Aware that he will face a quality opponent, considered a promise by the company, the Brazilian sent a tough message, guaranteeing not to give the 26-year-old an easy life.

“He’s a new kid, who’s coming off a good streak of fights. He has strength in his fists, he wants to be champion too. But he thinks he's going to get there and smash it, and that's not the case. (…) He will have to kill me to win. I'm going with everything. He may be 26 (years old), 18 (years old), he wants to take what is mine, my money, from my family. (…) It’s going to be a war. It won’t be easy,” he said.

Cerrone in the crosshairs

Willing to face the best, Nuguette reveals that he would like to trade forces against a legend of the organization. If he overcomes Mason at the weekend, the Brazilian admitted his desire to test himself against the veteran Donald Cerrone, who is going through a difficult time in his career.

"Donald Cerrone he's a good guy. It goes up and down (in category). He's an old guy, he has a lot. He's not at his greatest moment. He's a guy who deserved to win the title. He has a lot of guys in the lightweight division who, if given the opportunity to fight the champion, will do well,” he said.

Dream ending

Seeking a new positive result in his victorious record, Nuguette imagines a dream outcome for Saturday's commitment. Versatile, the Amazonian betted his chips on jiu-jitsu against Jones.

“I would like a submission on the ground. With a bonus, it would be even better (laughs)”, he concluded.

Athletes' history

This weekend, Alan will reach the milestone of 19 appearances as a professional in MMA. Today, the 37-year-old Brazilian has 15 wins and three losses in his career.

After losing his unbeaten record in his career, in his Ultimate debut, Mason is trying to recover from the setback. Currently, the athlete has 10 triumphs and one negative result in the sport.
