Gregor Gillespie praises Islam Makhachev and 'opens the door' to a possible duel in the future

After Islam makhachev accuse the top-10 fighters in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg) of not accepting to face him, his friend and training partner Gregor Gillespie prepared himself for this difficult mission. The North American praised the Russian but said he could face him after the European's duel against the Brazilian Thiago Moses. The statement was given in an interview with the channel 'Lynch On Sports'.

“He just signed to face the Thiago Moses so obviously that shouldn't happen now. But he's a guy who's probably ranked below his level. I can see us fighting for the belt in the future, who knows? I know a lot of people asked for this, but the fight has to make sense. I'm going to fight whoever makes the most sense and luckily he's ranked ahead of me”, declared the North American.

Current tenth place in the group led by charles do brox, Gregor Gillespie recovered from the first defeat of his career. After boasting an incredible record of 13 consecutive victories, 'The Gift' had his unbeaten record overturned when he was knocked out by Kevin Lee in November 2019. The North American recovered in May of that year to win Carlos Diego Ferreira by the same method in UFC Las Vegas 26.
