Multi-time boxing champion, Claressa Shields explains her decision to test herself in MMA: 'I'm not a millionaire yet'

After signing with the PLF, boxer criticizes scholarships paid to women in the 'noble art' and guarantees achieving stardom in mixed martial arts

One of the biggest names in recent boxing history, Claressa shields You are close to a big challenge in your career. After signing with the PFL and confirming her debut in professional MMA, the multiple champion in the 'noble art' explained her decision to test herself in mixed martial arts. In conversation with 'MMA fighting', the Olympic champion criticized the amounts paid in the world of boxing and attributed the desire to change the sport to the financial side.

“In women’s boxing, women are not paid well. I have achieved every title you can imagine, in every organization. Three-time world champion, two-time undefeated champion at 69,8kg. and 72,5kg. I maintained titles at 76,2kg. and I'm not a millionaire. I'm worldwide, but I'm not a big name yet,” said Shields.

Olympic champion in the London (2012) and Rio de Janeiro (2016) games, the North American believes that her presence in the MMA universe can change the current scenario. To this end, the North American is betting on her talent, establishing herself as a high-performance athlete also in mixed martial arts.

“I am the best fighter of all time in boxing and I will become the best in MMA, if I have the chance to fight in the PFL and become champion, at the same time as I am champion in boxing. Who will be able to argue that I'm the best of all time? I beat all the girls in boxing and I will have beaten girls in MMA. This adds up to me being the best,” she concluded.
