“It seems like (Charles) he won eight fights in a row, many ending quickly. As far as I remember, only against Tony Ferguson he fought all five rounds. I think that Charles of the Bronx He is a very deserving champion. Lots of submissions, lots of UFC records. It would be a shame if Michael chandler win. Two fights in the UFC and already be the champion? Something would be wrong if that happened. Charles has evolved a lot. He deserves all this success. Although he does not hide his admiration for the Brazilian's achievement, Nurmagomedov does not hide that he sees a short reign for the São Paulo native in the category. For the former champion, even in 2021, UFC fans will have another man wearing the title around his waist.

"When Islam makhachev (Khabib's training partner) reach the top of the rankings, Charles of the Bronx will no longer be the champion. I hope he understands my words well. I respect him, he deserves to be the champion. But when Islam's time comes, there will be a new champion, and it will be this year. In my opinion, the champion will be Dustin poirier”, ended.

Nurmagomedov's bet for the current season, Poirier was interim champion of the category in 2019, when the Russian was suspended due to the confusion caused after the fight against Conor McGregor, in 2018. The North American, however, was unsuccessful in the confrontation to unify the title, being submitted by 'Águia', in the UFC 242.

Behind only Do Bronx in the lightweight rankings, Poirier has a commitment in Ultimate. On July 10, the North American will make the historic trilogy against 'Notório' and a victory could put him in a position to challenge the new champion.
