VIDEO: Cris Cyborg talks about the future and opens the door to face Kayla Harrison: 'I don't choose an opponent'

Bellator champion, Brazilian does not rule out having a superfight against judoka on the rise in MMA; Different organizations would not be a barrier for confrontation to occur

Chris Cyborg do not stop. After defending Bellator's featherweight (up to 65,7kg) belt for the second time, the Brazilian is already looking ahead to her future plans. In an exclusive interview with the SUPER FIGHTS on YouTube, she talked about a possible superfight against the current PFL lightweight champion, Hayla Harrison.

“As she says, she already thinks she’s ready (to face me), right? If you say it, you have to do it. I would fight her, for sure. I don't choose an opponent. I know she has a contract to finish in her organization and, for me, there is no problem fighting in her category,” said Cyborg.

Cyborg also revealed that he has been following Harrison's development. The Curitiba native even compares the North American's strategy of promoting herself with the style adopted by Ronda Rousey in the past.

“I have been following some of the fights and their development. Logically, you will always talk about the person who is at their peak. In the beginning, when I was champion and Ronda (Rousey) started fighting, she talked about me. You will speak so you can draw the audience to you. It's her marketing ploy, just like Ronda used it. But I’m prepared if the duel happens”, added the Curitiba native.

An Olympic judo medalist on two occasions, Harrison made the transition to MMA in 2018. Since then, the American has had a ‘perfect record’, with nine victories. Still, Cyborg considers that she is still a level above compared to Kayla's current competitiveness in the sport.

“Most of the girls she’s fighting are on a totally different level than me. It will be a different experience for her, whether training or fighting (…) Bellator has no problem with the fight happening. They have already fought (in partnership) with other organizations. Scott (Coker, president of Bellator) is promoting the best fights that the fans would like to see”, concluded the fighter.

Signed by Bellator in 2020, Chris Cyborg presented himself on three occasions in the organization. Since then, the Curitiba native has won the belt by defeating julia budd. She also beat Arlene Blencowe and Leslie Smith. Considered one of the greatest fighters in the history of women's MMA, she has a record of 24 wins, two losses and one unsuccessful fight.
