Back at middleweight (up to 83,9kg.) and close to his next belt defense, Israel adesanya is taking it hard in the final stretch of preparation for the UFC 263, confirmed for June 12th. “Meanwhile, in Auckland”, wrote the mediators of the company’s profile on Instagram.
In March of this season, Adesanya moved up to light heavyweight (up to 93kg) for one of the biggest challenges of his career to date. Considered one of the biggest stars in the company's current squad, the Nigerian agreed to test himself against the champion of the top group, Jan Blachowicz.
Against the Pole, however, Israel ended up being unsuccessful. Against an opponent with visibly greater physical strength, Adesanya's refined technique did not prevail. The athlete ended up dominated by his rival and was defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.
Now, back in the group it has led since 2019, Israel will face an old acquaintance. The combatant will face Marvin vettori, against whom he played and won in a split decision in 2018.
If they overcome the Italian, this will be Israel's third title defense since taking the division crown. The athlete currently makes successful defenses against Yoel romero e Paulo borrachinha.
