Font praises Garbrandt and curbs excitement about a possible bantamweight belt fight

“I still think I need to wait. I could overpower him or knock him out. I have to wait. I learned to be patient, so I will be patient”, said the bantamweight.

Faced with the biggest victory in his career to date, Font is aware of the feat achieved this weekend. An admirer of Garbrandt, the fighter showed respect to the former champion, who failed to win his second consecutive victory.

“I have a lot of respect for him (Cody), I'm a big fan. Climb into the octagon and do what he does, win the belt. Obviously he lost (the title), but he's a cool 'kid'. He’s going to knock out or be knocked out,” he concluded.

With the victory over Garbrandt, Font defended third place in the group led by aljamain sterling. The positive result also extended the athlete's undefeated streak, which now has four consecutive victories.
