The Ultimate organization acted quickly regarding the announcement of the injury to alistair overeem, which would face Junior Gypsy at UFC 160 in May. Less than 24 hours after the announcement of the cut of the fight from the event card, UFC president, Dana White, stated that the fight should be postponed until the summer – in the northern hemisphere.

When asked by a fan, on Twitter, about the possibility that the New Zealander Mark Hunt replace Overeem in the fight and face Cigano, the manager was emphatic. “It doesn’t look good to me,” he replied. “Cigano vs Overeem in the summer”, he added.

White's response indicates that Ultimate's option is to maintain the confrontation between “The Reem” and Cigano, which has already been canceled for the second time – last year, the Dutchman was suspended due to a positive result in an anti-doping test on the eve of a title fight against the Brazilian.

The summer season in the United States, which does not necessarily respect the correct timing of the seasons, begins precisely at the time of UFC 160, where the fight between Overeem and Junior do Santos would take place, and runs until the end of September. Within the possibilities, it is most likely that the long-awaited fight between heavyweights will take place in the second half of the year.
