Dana says Ferguson will return 'to the top' of the lightweight division if he beats Dariush at UFC 262

“It will be a great fight for him. Tony is well liked by the fans so if he goes in there and wins, he will be back at the top of the division. We just have to see which Ferguson will appear in the Octagon,” said White.

Considered one of the best fighters in the division in recent years, Ferguson is in a complicated phase in his career. The North American comes from two consecutive defeats, to Justin gaethje in May 2020, in a duel valid for the interim lightweight title and for charles do brox in December of the same year.

Current number five in ranking of the division, Tony is looking to win again to get back to the top positions in the classification. With a record of 25 wins and five losses, 'El Cucuy's' last triumph was over Donald Cerrone No. UFC 238 on June 2019.
