Speculation about champion challenges in the UFC grows every day. After rumors of clashes between Anderson Silva against Georges St Pierre e Anderson Silva against Jon Jones, now another belt owner is also considering unifying the Ultimate titles. As the popular superfight between Anderson and GSP lost steam in recent weeks, Jones should be the Brazilian's challenge after his title defense against Chris Weidman, the american Ben henderson, champion of the lightweight category, is aiming for a duel against the Canadian.

“My main focus is to defend my title against Gilbert Melendez on April 20th. But I'm a fan of the sport, as well as being a competitor. I see all this talk about superfights, where fighters move up and down in weight to get a shot at the title. I want to fight the best fighters. Georges St-Pierre is one of the greatest fighters in the history of our sport. Of course I would like to fight him, and I think the fans want to see that fight too. It would be an honor to have him as a competitor, especially with a title on the line”, revealed Henderson, in an interview with the website MMA Fighting

PUBLICITY:

Despite Henderson's interest, UFC president Dana White revealed that this challenge is not yet in the organization's plans. "This will not happen. He won the title not long ago, and there are a lot of guys in the lightweight division for him to defend the belt.”
