Sandhagen reveals that he turned down an offer to face Pedro Munhoz and says he prefers to wait for TJ Dillashaw

After his opponent's injury, the North American didn't want a new opponent for UFC Las Vegas 26 and will wait for the former bantamweight champion to return.

After being left without an opponent due to TJ Dillashaw's injury, Cory Sandhagen I didn't want to hear about another opponent. The North American stated that Ultimate offered the Brazilian Peter Munhoz to replace the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg) but he refused the possible replacement. The statement was given to the channel 'Fanatics Views'.

“They offered me (Pedro) Munhoz, but I would rather wait for Dillashaw. I think this is a fair decision to make. It was just a postponement, so I have no problem waiting,” said Sandhagen.

The North American stated that Ultimate did not provide further details about TJ's injury and said that the organization is already working on a possible date for the confrontation.

“The UFC just told me he (Dillashaw) was out because of a cut. That was all they told me. I asked them to schedule it for June and they said they had no dates available that month. So now, we are trying to schedule it for July”, concluded Cory.

With a record of 14 wins and two losses, Sandhagen is currently number two in the bantamweight rankings. Hired by Ultimate in 2018, the 'Sandman' has only one defeat in eight fights in the organization. In his last fight, the American knocked out Frankie Edgar with a flying knee in the first round.
