the american Frankie Edgar was defeated by the Brazilian José Aldo in the fight for the featherweight belt (up to 66 kg.) at UFC 156, an event held at the beginning of this month. But former champion of the lightweight category (up to 70 kg.) is already aiming for a big stage to host a possible rematch between them.
Edgar stated that he would like to face Aldo again in a fight at Madison Square Garden, a traditional venue for events in New York, his homeland, as soon as the sport is legalized in the state.
“I would love to fight at the (Madison Square) Garden. This is crazy. I can train at Renzo Gracie's gym, which is on the same block, but I can't fight in front of my friends and family in my own backyard. I want to face José Aldo in a title fight at Madison Square Garden”, said the fighter, in an interview with the North American website BJPenn.com
Despite Edgar's interest, the Brazilian's next opponent should be another athlete who comes down from the lightweight category. Franchise president Dana White revealed that Anthony Pettis will drop down to face José Aldo for the featherweight belt

Aldo is a true champion, after all, Aldo doesn't run and doesn't choose opponents. I believe that Aldo will give a rematch to Edgar Frankie who, if he loses the fight, will be in a difficult situation, as he has already had his request to move up a category denied and if he loses the rematch he won't will have another opportunity to fight for the lightweight belt. At least while Aldo holds the title.
