O Grand Prix The light heavyweight division (up to 93kg) is about to begin. This Friday (9), the long-awaited rematch between Ryan bader e Lyoto Machida heads the Bellator 256, in the United States, in a fight valid for the quarterfinals of the tournament. In total, 13 clashes are scheduled, with another four Brazilians.

At different times in their careers, Bader and Lyoto face each other, ready to prove that they can be among the best light heavyweight fighters in Bellator. The fighters already faced each other in 2012, still in the UFC and, on that occasion, the Brazilian knocked out the North American in the second round.
The co-main fight marks the meeting between flyweight fighters (up to 56,7kg), Liz Carmouche and Vanessa Porto. The North American occupies third place in the official Bellator rankings, while the experienced Brazilian makes her debut in the organization.
On the card, Brazil has two more representatives. To start the second half of the event, Goiti Yamauchi 'measures forces' against Dan Moret. Talita Nogueira is the Tupiniquim representative on the preliminary card and duels against Jessica Borga.
RYAN BADER X LYOTO MACHIDA
Almost ten years since the first confrontation, Ryan bader e Lyoto Machida they meet again at different moments in their careers. In 2012, 'Dragon' had just lost to Jon Jones, but he triumphed again. The North American was not yet known by the general public.
The rematch, however, takes place during a period of recovery for Lyoto. The Brazilian comes from two consecutive defeats, against Gegard Mousasi and Phil David, and wants victory to prove that he can still 'make noise' in the division. Bader was already double champion in Bellator, but lost the light heavyweight title to Vadim nemkov in September 2020. Still, he is one of the favorites for the Grand Prix.
TO START ON THE 'RIGHT FOOT'
Remembered for being one of the first female fighters in history, veteran Vanessa Porto debuts in Bellator and has the opportunity to duel against former Ultimate title challenger and third in the rankings, Liz Carmouche.
The Brazilian, who hasn't played since November 2019, is on a four-fight win streak and even won the Invicta FC flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg) before moving to Scott Coker's event. In his career, there are 22 triumphs and eight setbacks.
In turn, the North American makes her second appearance at the event after leaving Ultimate in 2019. She fought for the franchise title, but ended up defeated against Ronda Rousey e Valentina Shevchenko. Currently, she has a record of 14 positive results and seven negative results.

In addition to Lyoto and Vanessa, the main card of Bellator 256 There will also be the participation of another Tupiniquim athlete. Representative of lightweights (up to 70,3kg.), Goiti Yamauchi has a commitment against Dan Moret. The Japanese-Brazilian is looking for his fourth consecutive victory and occupies third place in the ranking.
The first Brazilian to step into the octagon at the event, Talita Nogueira, aka 'Treta', is under pressure after two consecutive defeats. In her last appearance, in October 2019, the featherweight (up to 65,7kg) suffered a setback against Jessy Miele and is now trying to recover against the American Jessica Borga.
