The current bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.) aljamain sterling believe that Petr yan cheated in the fight valid for the UFC 259 and should not have an immediate rematch. The American, who won the belt after being hit by an illegal knee that prevented him from continuing, claims that Ultimate should severely punish the Russian for breaking the rules.

“In any other sport, when you do something illegal, you get suspended, fined and kicked out of the game. That guy (Petr yan) is being rewarded with a rematch, which I think is a great fight. But it shows everyone that we can just break the rules and nothing will happen to us. (…) I feel like he should have been suspended and sentenced to pay me some money for an illegal knee that could take years off my career,” Sterling said in a press conference promoted by Ultimate.

“The Athletic Commission suspended me in Nevada for 45 days with no contact. So I can't do anything before that. I'm recovering from some problems with my neck and I'm going to try to get back to training and preparing myself this year”, added the fighter.
With the triumph in disqualification, aljamain sterling He wore, for the first time, the Ultimate bantamweight belt. The champion debuted in the organization in 2014 and is on a streak of six wins in the division. In its history, there are 20 positive results and three negative results.
