Dana White cites Miesha Tate's 'motivation', but rules out Ronda Rousey's return to MMA

President says the female scenario in Ultimate is different and may have influenced the return of 'Cupcake'

The former UFC bantamweight (up to 65,7kg) champion, Miesha Tate, surprised by announcing his return to MMA. On the eve of UFC 260, to 'Cupcake’ was scheduled to face Marion Reneau, on July 17th. Asked about the matter, the president of Ultimate, Dana White, says that the situation in the women's scene has changed since his retirement, but he ruled out the possibility of Ronda Rousey follow the same steps.

“I think (around Miesha Tate) is for money. I don't know what her reason is, but women were a little different when they retired. She left, started a family and had been away from the Octagon for five years. It will be interesting to see how she does. I think she’s going to do well,” said Dana White at a press conference at the UFC 260.

Marked by her ups and downs in her career, Miesha Tate also attracted the public's attention due to his great rivalry against Ronda Rousey. However, the ‘Cupcake’ was completed on both occasions. With her return, there was speculation that her former opponent might also be back. The possibility, however, was soon denied by Dana White.

“Don’t even start, boys. Definitely, positively, (Ronda Rousey) will never come back”, concluded the agent.

At 34, Miesha Tate returns to the Octagon five years after retiring. Former Ultimate champion, the North American was the last bantamweight champion before the dominance of Amanda nunes. In his career, there are 24 fights, with 18 wins and six losses.
