Businessman says Khamzat Chimaev can face Neil Magny and sets deadline for return

Ali Abdelaziz explains the Swede's 'frustration' and reveals that he is working towards a return to MMA in July

Pointed out as one of the most promising fighters in the welterweight category (up to 77kg) of Ultimate, Khamzat Shimaev is close to a return to the octagon. At least that's what his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, guarantees, who indicated his return for July and 'target' in Neil Magny, which occupies ninth place in the division ranking.

“He should start training in mid-April to fight in July. He is still recovering, but he is already much better. Neil Magny It's the fighter we have in mind as an opponent. Let's see what happens”, guarantees Ali Abdelaziz in an interview with 'ESPN' North-American.

Chimaev 'shocked the world' by posting his retirement announcement on social media. At 26, the Swede had said he was 'hanging up the gloves' following complications with COVID-19. Now, Abdelaziz explains that the statement occurs due to his client's feeling of frustration, but that the feeling is in the past.

“We don’t know what fighters go through. It is impossible to know what they think and feel. Sometimes they say something out of frustration or are angry about not being able to do what they love. He felt helpless for not being able to train, but that has passed and he will return to training”, concluded the businessman.

Khamzat Shimaev gained worldwide notoriety in Ultimate after winning three fights in 2020 in a short space of time against John Phillips, rhys mckee e Gerald meerschaert via fast routes – the three duels combined were finished in 4m38s. Currently, the Swede is undefeated in nine career fights.
