Filipino Honorio Banario (photo) is the first champion of the One FC featherweight division. The title came after the victory of “The Rock”, as he is known, over fellow countryman Eric Kelly in the 7th edition of the event, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Banario now joins South Korean Soo Chul Kim (bantamweight) and Kotetsu Boku (lightweight) on the Singapore organization's list of champions.
Banario was better at striking throughout the fight and also had Kelly's difficulty in getting the takedowns necessary to develop his game on the ground. The fight ended in the fourth round with the referee's interruption, when a precise left hook applied by Banario left Kelly unable to see out of his right eye.
