Derek Brunson dominates Kevin Holland, wins on points at UFC Las Vegas 22 and challenges Paulo Borrachinha

Average weight (up to 83,9kg.) Derek Brunson confirmed his good phase and scored his fourth consecutive victory in Ultimate. In the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 22, which took place this Saturday (20), the North American defeated Kevin holland in the unanimous decision of the judges.

In a post-fight interview, Derek Brunson challenged Paulo borrachinha for a fight. According to him, now is the time to face a 'Top 5' in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg.). The Brazilian is recovering from a 'severe flu', which took him out of the duel against Robert whittaker, on April 17th.

“I wasn't very excited about this fight. They probably didn't like my performance very much, so give me a Top 5. I want to fight Paulo borrachinha. Let’s see what happens,” Brunson said.

THE FIGHT

Derek Brunson experienced two different moments at the beginning of the fight. First, the North American received a front kick from Kevin holland, which hit his chin. However, he absorbed the blow and then connected with a counter blow that made his opponent fall. On the ground for the rest of the round, Brunson worked from guard with elbows that hurt Holland.

Everything seemed to change 'figures' at the beginning of the second round. Kevin holland had placed his right, which made Derek Brunson bend the knee. At a disadvantage, the American managed to recover and took his opponent to the ground, looking for a katagatame that seemed to be in place, but was defended by Holland.

Strategically, Derek Brunson fell again Kevin holland. Adding points, the North American was on top for much of the third and fourth rounds. To surprise his opponent, in the fifth round, it was the Trailblazer surprise and take the fight to the ground. Soon after, Brunson recovered and 'got even', taking down his opponent in the final minute of the duel. With an advantage, he confirms his fourth consecutive victory in Ultimate and gets closer to a fight for the middleweight belt.

Presence of Khabib Nurmagomedov

At intervals of each round, Kevin holland talked and asked for advice from the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.) and retired Khabib Nurmagomedov for combat. The MMA legend watched the fight with the president of Ultimate, Dana White and even went live on his 'Instagram' official.
