Confirmed. Highlight in the light weight (up to 70,3kg.) of Ultimate, Charles of the Bronx will fight for the category belt. On his social networks, the Brazilian celebrated the fact and promised a victory over Michael chandler at the event that takes place on May 15th. The clash took place after the official announcement of the champion's retirement, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In the lightweight top 5, Do Bronx and Chandler will exchange forces to take over the position left by Khabib. While the Brazilian is enjoying a great phase within the company, with eight consecutive victories, Michael – recently hired by the company – won the fight for the belt after a devastating debut against Dan Hooker.
The lightweight scenario took a new shape after it was confirmed that Khabib is, in fact, retired. Although the Russian made the information official in October last year, in recent months, Dana White and his team have tried to change the star's position.
In the UFC since 2010, this will be Charles' first title fight for the company. At 31 years old, the São Paulo native hasn't fought since December 2020, when he beat the feared Tony Ferguson. Today, the Brazilian boasts a record of 30 wins, eight losses and one 'no result fight' in MMA.
Bellator legend, Chandler arrived at the UFC in September 2020. Former lightweight champion in the competitor, the 34-year-old American has 22 wins and five losses in his record in mixed martial arts.
