Dana comments on Chimaev's future after complications from COVID-19: 'I don't know how it will end'

Ultimate's 'Boss' recommended a rest for the Swede so he can return and pursue his career

The welterweight (up to 77kg.) of Ultimate, Khamzat Shimaev, 'shocked the world' when he announced his retirement, citing complications from COVID-19, at the beginning of March. Asked for an update on the matter, franchise president Dana White stated that he still doesn't know the Swede's future and suggested that the fighter rest his body if he is willing to return.

“He’s a grown man and we can’t control what he does. I don't know how this will end. We'll see. (…) What he should do now is rest. He shouldn't be training. But I know he won't do that,” Dana said in an interview with 'BT Sport'.

Still talking about Chimaev, White revealed that the fighter's winning mentality makes everyone excited to see him in action. Furthermore, the agent says that, despite recovering from COVID-19, the Swede is not willing to have a long period of inactivity.

“Everyone loves Chimaev because he is a wild fighter. He wants to fight every weekend and believes he will win the belt. But the problem is that nothing and no one can calm him down in pursuit of his goal”, concluded the 'boss'.
