Without fighting since 2019, when he was beaten by compatriot Douglas D' Silva, Barão is definitely not experiencing the best moment of his career. The athlete, who was once at the top of the world in mixed martial arts, was released by Ultimate in December of the same year, after a sequence of eight setbacks in the last 10 appearances.

At 34 years old, Renan has already heard from the UFC president, Dana White, that he was one of the best fighters on the planet. Bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) of the company between 2012 and 2014, the Brazilian's career ended up being shaken after two tough defeats to TJ Dillashaw (2014 and 2015). Since then, Barão has been trying to get back on his feet.
