In one of the most anticipated fights on the preliminary card of the UFC 259, Rogerio Bontorin staged a curious moment in the confrontation against Kai Kara France. After suffering a hard knockout at the end of the first round, the Brazilian got up confused and, irritated, threw his mouthguard at his opponent, who was celebrating his triumph. Before, the Paraná native dominated the confrontation, but ended up becoming careless.

In a contest promoted at flyweight (up to 56,7kg), the challenge was close to being marked by a 'blunder' from the central referee, Herb Dean. After France's harsh attack on Rogério (see below), the conductor of the fight did not make it clear whether he had interrupted the fight and, when he was celebrating the triumph, Kai approached Rogério, already knocked out, and almost hit the Brazilian with new blows.

Upon realizing his opponent's intention, Bontorin quickly got up and threw the protector at his opponent. Luckily, the object did not touch the New Zealander. The action could have caused confusion inside the Octagon.

After the incident, with calmer spirits, the man from Paraná received a hug from Kara-France. Executioner of the Brazilian, the athlete received one of the 'Performance of the Night' bonuses, taking home US$50 thousand (around R$284 thousand).
