Adesanya analyzes his defeat at UFC 259 and doesn't rule out a duel against Jones in the future: 'You never know'

In a calm tone, the Nigerian reveals that he is returning to middleweight to defend his belt, but is interested in competing again in light heavyweight

UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg), Israel adesanya lost for the first time in his career against Jan Blachowicz. The fight marked the fight for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg.) and was the main attraction of the UFC 259, which took place this Saturday (6), in Las Vegas. With a conformist tone, the Nigerian praised the Pole and stated that he could face the former division champion, Jon Jones, in the future.

“Losses are part of life. If I have to lose to someone, let it be at least to someone like Jan (Blachowicz). A class champion. I respected him and he respected me. I have no regrets. Like I said, I feel like the undefeated record valued in boxing has become bad for us. It’s bad to lose, but it’s not the end of the world,” said Adesanya, in a post-event press conference.

Despite declaring that he will be back to defend the middleweight belt, Adesanya revealed that there is still interest in returning to fight in the light heavyweight division in the future and confirmed that there is a possibility of facing the former champion Jon Jones.

“You will see me back at light heavyweight in the future. As for the fight against Jones, you never know. However, now I'm going back to the middleweights. I apologize to my fans for disappointing them in today's fight”, added the Nigerian.
