Josh Thomson faces Nate Diaz in his return to the UFC

Gilbert Melendez will not be the only fighter coming from Strikeforce to debut in Ultimate during UFC on FOX 7. The event organizers announced that Josh thomson (photo), former champion of the now defunct organization, will fight against Nate diaz on the night of April 20th. Thomson returns to the octagon of the main MMA organization on the planet after a hiatus of more than eight years – the North American's last fight was against Yves Edward in August 2004.

With the announcement, the UFC on FOX 7 card acquires a curious characteristic, to say the least. The night will feature fights between the UFC and Strikeforce lightweight champions (Ben henderson and Gilbert Melendez) and his latest challengers (Nate diaz e Josh thomson) in their respective organizations. In addition to these two clashes, the fight between heavyweights Frank mir e Daniel Cormier completes the list of fights announced for the event so far.
