One of Bellator's main bets for the coming seasons, Anthony Johnson is more than satisfied with his decision to leave the UFC and move to the competition. With its debut scheduled for April, when it faces Yoel romero, the North American sent a direct message to fighters who dream of becoming professional in MMA. In an interview with 'The Spaniard Show', or 'Rumble' I wanted to show another universe beyond the octagon.

“I see that fans are starting to understand that you don't have to be a UFC fighter to be successful and be able to feed your family. So, don't be afraid to step outside the box, if there are other things out there to do in other promotions. Go ahead. Try. I think Bellator was the right decision,” said the American.
At 36 years old, Johnson, for years, was among the elite of light heavyweights (up to 93kg) in Ultimate. In his last fight, at UFC 210, the athlete competed for the group's belt, which, at the time, was held by Daniel Cormier. In this ocasion, 'Rumble' ended up finished in the second round.
After the defeat to DC in 2017, Anthony announced his retirement from the sport. Since then, the fighter has not acted professionally, but in 2019, he began to show signs that he could return to the sport.
Last season, the surprise. When many, including Ultimate's president, Dana White, imagined Johnson's return to Ultimate, the athlete 'crossed the bridge' and was confirmed as Bellator's new addition.
The light heavyweight debuts with the company on April 16 and, in his first engagement, will face the legendary Yoel romero. The confrontation will represent one of the fights of the Grand Prix of the division. The championship will also feature names like Lyoto Machida, Ryan bader, Phil Davis, Corey anderson and the champion, Vadim nemkov.
